Wildlife Refuge Manager

Duties include, but are not limited to:
Conduct program evaluations of field station operations by reviewing management programs (i.e. habitat, water, public use planning, research, administration, personnel financial, maintenance, and law enforcement). Direct and coordinate a biological program which includes a variety of wildlife surveys. Supervise a maintenance program including the maintenance of buildings, grounds, fences, dikes, roads, signs, and equipment. Manage property (equipment, buildings), to include determining priorities of maintenance needs and managing real property inventory. Oversee staff, volunteers, and youth program participants to accomplish projects in a natural resource setting. Physical Demands:
The work requires some physical exertion such as walking over wet, rough, uneven, or marshy surfaces; bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; and recurring lifting of moderately heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. Work requires average agility and dexterity. Work Environment:
The work is performed both in an office and outdoors. The office is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The incumbent may be subject to large numbers of biting insects and may be required to work in close proximity to large animals. The incumbent is expected to conduct duties in a safe and orderly manner so as not to endanger self, fellow workers, or property. Only experience and education obtained by October 29, 2019 will be considered. Minimum Qualification:
Possess a Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university with major in zoology, wildlife management, or an appropriate field of biology that included at least 9 semester hours in zoology; 6 semester hours in such wildlife courses as mammalogy, ornithology, animal ecology, or wildlife management; 3 semester hours in botany; and 3 semester hours in conservation biology, OR Completed courses in an accredited college or university equivalent to a major in one of the fields described above that included at least 9 semester hours in zoology; 6 semester hours in such wildlife courses as mammalogy, ornithology, animal ecology, or wildlife management; 3 semester hours in botany; and 3 semester hours in conservation biology, PLUS appropriate experience and/or additional education comparable to the completion of a 4-year course of study. Additional Qualification:
Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. in zoology, wildlife management, or an appropriate field of biology, OR Possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. For example:
experience planning and directing a variety of operations in a natural resources setting; planning, directing, and evaluating some aspects of a wildlife management program; developing long or short term management plans; presenting written and oral reports, OR Possess a combination of graduate level education as described in A above, that is beyond the first 2 years of progressive graduate study, AND appropriate professional experience as described in B above that together meet the qualification requirements for this position. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
